Healthy Smiles Ontario
On October 1, 2010 the government of Ontario announced the launch of “Healthy Smiles Ontario”, a new no-cost dental program for children 17 and under who don’t have access to dental coverage and who meet the program’s eligibility requirements.
Access to preventive oral health care services for many families in Ontario is a challenge, particularly those without dental insurance who cannot afford this care. The new Healthy Smiles Ontario program covers regular visits for eligible children to a licensed dental professional to establish and maintain good oral health.
The services covered include check-ups, cleanings, x-rays, fillings and more. Emergency treatment will continue to be covered for this same eligible group through the “Children in Need of Treatment” (CINOT) program.
Who is Eligible?
Children 17 and under if:
- They are residents of Ontario
- They are members of a household with an Adjusted Family Net Income of $20,000.00 per year or below; and
- They do not have access to any form of dental coverage including other government programs
How do I Enroll?
You need to contact your local public health unit who will assist you with the application process which involves completing the required forms and submitting the required documentation.
Where Can my Child Access Dental Care Through the Healthy Smiles Ontario Program?
