We Don’t Know What We Don’t Know: Ignaz Semmelweis

Washing hands.

Sometimes in life, science and the subsequent proof we seek lag far behind validating research (this begs a whole other discussion on funding of such today).  In support of my concerns about the dangers of fluoride and how we don’t know what we don’t know, I would like to share the tragic but compelling story of Ignaz Semmelweis. To Floss or Not To Floss

Recently, a patient brought to my attention an Associated Press release that made it to the evening news, stating officials have never really researched the effectiveness of regular flossing.  She then asked me to comment on whether I think it is necessary to floss or not to floss.

While I was aware of the limited data available supporting this oral health care practice, I have personally observed, anecdotally, that the effects of some kind of in-between bacterial disruption on a daily basis really does help to reduce bleeding gums and inflammation. Continue reading

Dr. Mercola Announces Fluoride Awareness Week

In this week’s blog I would like to present the press release announcing a special week of information on the dangers of fluoride brought to you by Dr. Mercola and The Fluoride Action Network (FAN).

Dr. Mercola Announces Fluoride Awareness Week

Dr. Joseph Mercola and the Fluoride Action Network are pairing up during this week-long event to help increase awareness of the dangers of fluoride.

It’s amazing that the United States claims to be one of the most advanced scientific countries in the world, yet we still are behind many countries in Europe, which have banned or drastically reduced their use of fluoride in public water systems.

I received an email last week from FAN that a new study has recently been published and following is an excerpt from a news release pertaining to such: Continue reading

Changes to Water Fluoridation

Dental Fluorosis: What is it?

There has been a great deal happening south of the border in the last few weeks regarding  fluoridation and as a member of FAN, The Fluoride Action Network, I would like to share some of the compelling information that has been brought to light.

I am not and never have been in favor of fluoride, especially the practice of water fluoridation, and it would now appear that as a result of this “one dose fits all prescription” there now exists a 41% fluorosis rate in youths 12–15 years old in the United States.  As a result of this, they are lowering their fluoride concentration in the water supply to .7ppm, down from the .7ppm to 1.2ppm range which has existed since 1962.
